Mumbai, August 12: A fire erupted late Tuesday night in a multi-story building in the Ville Parle (West) area of Mumbai, causing panic among residents. The blaze started on the 11th floor of the Shanta Bhavan building, located on Baptista Road. Upon receiving the alert, multiple fire department vehicles rushed to the scene to initiate firefighting efforts.
According to media reports, the fire was reported around 10:02 PM in the 12-story Shanta Bhavan building. The Mumbai Fire Brigade immediately commenced rescue and relief operations. Initially classified as a Level-1 (general) fire, the situation was escalated to Level-2 (medium severity) at 10:16 PM due to the fire’s intensity.
Approximately 10 fire engines arrived promptly, and efforts to control the blaze were underway. Additionally, personnel from the Mumbai Police, 108 ambulance service, and local ward staff were deployed to assist at the site.
Firefighters and emergency service officials are actively engaged in ongoing rescue operations within the building. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time. Fire department teams are working diligently to fully extinguish the flames and ensure the safety of any individuals trapped inside.
As of the time of this report, there have been no reports of casualties, and the cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
Earlier on Sunday, a fire was reported on the first floor of the Byculla police station. It was noted that the fire started in a room and quickly spread. The fire department was alerted, and fire engines arrived promptly to bring the situation under control within a short period.
