New Delhi, August 30: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met with Luca Zaramella, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Mondelēz International. The two leaders discussed opportunities for expanding the company’s production, sourcing, services, and exports in India.
According to information shared by the Finance Ministry on the social media platform X, the meeting took place in Chicago, USA. They focused on Mondelēz’s strong and growing presence in India, its continuous investments in manufacturing and infrastructure, and opportunities to expand operations in the country.
Minister Sitharaman welcomed the company’s confidence in India and highlighted the nation’s skilled workforce, increasing manufacturing capabilities, and developing supply chain ecosystem.
The Finance Ministry stated that these factors provide significant opportunities for global companies to offer services in both domestic and international markets. The Minister also emphasized the government’s ongoing focus on regulatory simplification, digitization, and improved infrastructure to enhance ease of doing business and reduce costs.
These measures aim to enable global companies to deepen their long-term investments in India. This meeting comes at a time when India is strengthening its position as a global manufacturing and supply chain hub, seeking to attract more investments from multinational corporations.
The Ministry noted that the government’s focus on regulatory reforms, digitization, and infrastructure development will assist global companies in deepening their presence and making long-term investments in India.
In a separate post, the Finance Ministry mentioned that Minister Sitharaman also met with Brandon Tseng, co-founder and chairman of Shield AI, to discuss opportunities for collaboration in AI-enabled autonomy, unmanned systems, and next-generation defense technologies.
