Farmers in Hansi Praise PM-KUSUM Scheme for Transforming Agriculture

Hansi, October 13 (Daily Kiran) : Farmers in Hansi, Haryana, are reaping the benefits of the central government‘s PM-KUSUM scheme, which supports the installation of solar pumps. This initiative has significantly reduced their reliance on expensive diesel and electricity for irrigation.

Sandeep Fauji, a retired soldier from the village of Dhana Kalana, shared his experience with the program. He installed solar panels on his farm and noted the drastic change it brought to his agricultural practices. Previously, he relied on diesel-powered tube wells, which incurred high costs and limited his farming capabilities. Now, with solar energy, he can irrigate his fields efficiently. “As soon as the sun rises, I press the pump button, and water flows into my fields,” he explained. This newfound efficiency allowed him to expand his farming, cultivating a lush garden over four acres.

He expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for initiating such a beneficial scheme. “This program directly benefits farmers like us,” he stated. The increased water availability has led to greater crop diversity, including various vegetables, enhancing local employment opportunities.

Another farmer, Ashok Yadav, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the significant savings and productivity improvements he has experienced. “We no longer have to wait for electricity or spend on diesel,” he said. He noted that while he previously grew wheat and a couple of other crops, he is now producing a wider variety, leading to greater profits thanks to the PM-KUSUM scheme.

Yadav encouraged fellow farmers to take advantage of this initiative whenever the application process reopens, highlighting its positive impact on their livelihoods.

Overall, farmers in Hansi are optimistic about the future, thanks to the support provided by the government through this innovative program.
