Mumbai, August 16: Actress Erica Fernandes, known for her roles in popular series like ‘Kasautii Zindagii Kay’ and ‘Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi,’ is making waves in her new show ‘108 Base Hospital – Uri.’ In this series, she portrays Dr. Major Naina, a character that required extensive preparation.
In a recent interview, Erica shared insights about her acting approach. She explained that while on set, she immerses herself completely in her character. However, once the shooting wraps up, she effortlessly transitions back to her normal life.
Erica stated, “For me, stepping into a character and then stepping out is not very challenging. When I arrive on set, I become part of my character’s world, but once the work is done, I return to my real life. During shooting, the character takes precedence, but after the camera stops, I can separate myself from that role.”
She also mentioned that there were no particular scenes during the filming of ‘108 Base Hospital – Uri’ that made it difficult for her to detach from her character. The medical cases depicted in the show were intriguing and provided her with valuable learning experiences. Many situations were distinct from everyday life, making the overall experience quite enriching.
Discussing her preparation for the role, Erica revealed, “To accurately portray Dr. Major Naina on screen, I conducted extensive research. For about a month, I watched various medical shows and videos. I focused not only on the doctors’ tasks but also on how they stand, communicate with patients, and behave in serious situations.”
Erica became so engrossed in her character that her co-stars jokingly began calling her ‘Dr. Fernandes’ on set.
She expressed, “I hope the effort I put into becoming a doctor is visible to the audience on screen. A unique aspect of this show is that through the medical cases and different scenarios, I learned many new things.”
Alongside Erica, the show features notable actors such as Gashmeer Mahajani, Nikhil Khurana, Aiyoshi Talukdar, Hiten Tejwani, and Smita Bansal in key roles.
This show, which intertwines military and medical themes, premiered on August 15, coinciding with Independence Day. It airs every Saturday and Sunday on Colors and Jio Hotstar.
