Mumbai, August 16: Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan celebrated the 80th Independence Day by extending his greetings to fellow citizens and expressing pride in being Indian.

On Saturday, the actor shared an AI-tagged image of himself dressed in a white Pathani suit on his Instagram account, accompanied by a heartfelt message.

Shah Rukh Khan stated, “Wishing everyone a very Happy Independence Day. There is something special about being Indian… the colors, the diversity, the beautiful differences, the passion, and most importantly, the feeling of being part of something much larger than ourselves… our country.”

He added, “We should always cherish what we have and strive to make our country proud in our own way. I take pride in being Indian, and I love being Indian. Jai Hind.”

Shah Rukh has previously mentioned that he is the son of Indian freedom fighter Meer Taj Muhammad Khan. Born in Peshawar, Meer Taj Muhammad Khan was active in the Indian independence movement and was associated with the Indian National Congress. After the partition, his family relocated to Delhi.

India is celebrating its 80th Independence Day on Saturday, marking eight decades since gaining freedom from British rule. The nation is remembering the sacrifices of freedom fighters and reflecting on its journey of development.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort. His speech emphasized the vision of a developed and self-reliant India by 2047, covering various topics related to the country’s development journey, including defense, energy, human capital, youth, self-reliance, and national unity.
