EPS Criticizes DMK at Tamil Nadu Rally, Defends AIADMKs Stance on Cauvery Issue

Tanjore, April 12: At an election rally in Tanjore, AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami launched a sharp attack on the DMK. He highlighted his party’s actions regarding the Cauvery issue and accused the ruling party of neglecting farmers’ interests.

Addressing a large gathering, Palaniswami referred to Tanjore as the “land of gold,” emphasizing its agricultural significance in Tamil Nadu’s delta region.

He claimed that the AIADMK government achieved a historic and favorable decision in the Cauvery water dispute, stating that the party had disrupted parliamentary proceedings for 37 days to advocate for Tamil Nadu’s rights.

Palaniswami credited former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa for initiating the Tanjore Smart City project and asserted that AIADMK governments have consistently prioritized infrastructure and development in the area.

Targeting the DMK, he questioned its coalition politics, particularly its relationship with the BJP during its tenure at the center. “If the DMK allies with the BJP, does that not make the BJP a communal party? Yet, when we form alliances, they raise questions. Our alliance is natural and based on good governance,” he remarked.

He also accused the DMK of failing to bring meaningful development projects to Tanjore despite being part of the central government for nearly 15 years.

Palaniswami criticized Chief Minister M.K. Stalin for signing agreements related to hydrocarbon projects in the delta region, which he claimed jeopardized farmers’ livelihoods.

He concluded by stating that the AIADMK government has taken solid steps to protect agricultural land, while the DMK has ignored crucial issues like Cauvery water management during its time in power at the center.
