New Delhi, July 15: The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, emphasized that making the Amarnath Yatra accessible and hassle-free for pilgrims is the government’s top priority.
In a post on the social media platform X, Sinha shared that he visited the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu to assess the facilities and services available for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. Over 300,000 pilgrims have participated in the sacred journey within just 12 days, highlighting the need for a smooth and trouble-free experience.
During a meeting with officials from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army, security forces, Shrine Board, and civil administration, Sinha praised their hard work and urged them to treat every pilgrim as a divine guest. He stressed the importance of flawless registration, comfortable accommodation, and efficient travel arrangements for all devotees of Baba Barfani.
Sinha also called for showcasing Jammu and instructed officials to organize tours to the region’s major spiritual and tourist sites while actively promoting local handicrafts and handloom products.
“Our goal is that when the pilgrims return home, they carry a piece of Jammu with them in the form of beautiful local handmade items and unforgettable memories,” he stated. “Together, we are committed to making this year’s journey truly historic.”
In a separate post, he celebrated a proud moment for Rajouri, noting that the district’s historic ‘Bhairav Yatra‘ has been officially included in India’s ‘National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.’ He congratulated the Rajouri district administration and the Jammu and Kashmir culture department for realizing this dream. This prestigious recognition will significantly aid in documenting, preserving, and celebrating the region’s deep spiritual and cultural roots.
He further mentioned that this national honor acknowledges the efforts of generations of devotees who have kept this tradition alive. The inclusion of the ‘Bhairav Yatra’ in the national list will strengthen Rajouri’s unique cultural identity on a national level and open new avenues for research, cultural exchange, and sustainable heritage tourism.
