
Chennai, April 2: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day visit to Chennai, security has been significantly tightened. A total of 3,000 police personnel have been deployed throughout the city. PM Modi is scheduled to arrive on Friday to campaign ahead of the assembly elections.
According to official sources, the Prime Minister will land in Chennai at 3:20 PM via a special flight. Immediately after his arrival, he will depart by helicopter to Puducherry, where he will participate in crucial electoral events and public meetings aimed at garnering voter support.
Party leaders are optimistic that PM Modi’s visit will energize party workers and boost the campaign’s momentum in the final stages of electioneering.
After completing his engagements in Puducherry, PM Modi will return to Chennai at 6 PM. He will be staying at a prominent five-star hotel in the Guindy area. In the evening, he is expected to hold a closed-door meeting with senior BJP leaders to discuss electoral strategies and coordination plans at the booth level.
On Saturday, PM Modi will conclude his Chennai visit and depart for Kerala at 1 PM, where he will continue his electoral activities.
In light of this significant visit, security measures in Chennai have been intensified. Following directives from Police Commissioner Arun, security has been heightened at sensitive locations, including the airport, Guindy, and Meenambakkam.
Police personnel have been stationed at intervals of approximately every 10 feet along designated routes to ensure maximum vigilance, crowd control, and quick response in case of emergencies. Additionally, Guindy and Meenambakkam have been declared high-security “Red Zones,” where strict restrictions are in place.
As a precautionary measure, the use of drones has been completely banned in these areas. Traffic changes are anticipated in various parts of the city, and authorities have urged the public to cooperate with security agencies to ensure smooth transit and safety during the Prime Minister’s visit.
