End of Violence and Divisive Politics in Bengal: Khagen Murmus Remarks

Kolkata, May 8: BJP MP Khagen Murmu criticized TMC leader Mamata Banerjee, stating that she should respect the public mandate. He pointed out that she has not accepted her electoral defeat.

In a conversation in Kolkata, Murmu highlighted that the TMC has long been involved in a politics of violence, creating an atmosphere of unrest. He noted that even after the election results, Banerjee continues to deny her loss and insists she will not resign.

Murmu mentioned that while some elements are making anti-BJP statements, the public is distancing itself from such rhetoric. The atmosphere in West Bengal is changing, with violence and divisive politics gradually coming to an end.

Regarding the BJP’s success in winning most seats reserved for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, Murmu emphasized that the party has always focused on the welfare of tribal, SC, ST, OBC, and other backward classes. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for their continuous efforts to benefit these communities, leading to their unity with the BJP.

He remarked that the tribal community could never have imagined that someone from the Santhal community would become the President of India.

On the Muslim community, Murmu stated that they now understand that the BJP is not against them. He noted that the previous propaganda suggested that Muslims would have to leave the state if the BJP came to power, but that narrative is breaking down.

Regarding the murder case of Suvendu Adhikari’s PA, Murmu called for a CBI investigation, asserting that the BJP would initiate this once in power. He mentioned that the police investigation is ongoing and those involved in the murder will not be able to hide.

On the controversy surrounding the national song ‘Vande Mataram,’ Murmu asserted that no one has the right to question it. He emphasized that there is nothing anti-Islamic in it, as it is our national song, which we all sing together in Parliament.

Commenting on the meeting between Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav and Mamata Banerjee, Murmu advised Yadav to focus on his own state of Uttar Pradesh, questioning his understanding of the situation in Bengal.
