Two Notorious Robbers Arrested After Police Encounter in Lucknow

Lucknow, May 31: In a significant operation, the police and surveillance team in Lucknow’s Krishna Nagar area have apprehended two members of an interstate robbery and theft gang following a police encounter. Both suspects sustained gunshot wounds to their legs and are currently receiving treatment at Lok Bandhu Hospital.

According to police reports, a case was registered on May 28 after Ram Babu Chaurasia, a resident of Kundan Vihar, reported that two motorcycle-borne assailants had stolen a bag from his bike. Additionally, a recent incident involving a woman named Varsha Rani, who was a victim of chain snatching, was also reported.

To investigate these incidents, four teams were formed under the direction of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South). During the investigation, police reviewed footage from over 200 CCTV cameras and successfully traced the gang using both manual and electronic evidence.

On the night of May 30, while conducting checks on suspicious individuals near the Asharam Bapu Ashram on Manas Nagar Road, police received a tip-off. They attempted to stop two suspicious individuals on a motorcycle. Upon noticing the police, the suspects tried to flee, leading to their motorcycle skidding and falling. It is alleged that the robbers fired at the police team with the intent to kill. In self-defense, the police returned fire, injuring both suspects in the legs before arresting them.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Rohan alias Guddu (23) and Sahil (21), both residents of Delhi. They have multiple criminal cases registered against them in various police stations across Uttar Pradesh and Delhi-NCR, including theft, robbery, and violations of the Arms Act.

Police recovered a gold chain (approximately 5.70 grams), a bag, two illegal firearms (.315 bore), four cartridges, and a motorcycle without a license plate that was used in the crimes from the suspects.

Authorities claim that the arrest of these individuals has led to the resolution of two cases of chain snatching and bag theft registered at Krishna Nagar police station. The police are now actively searching for other members of the gang and are proceeding with further investigations based on interrogations of the suspects. This operation was a collaborative effort between the Krishna Nagar police and the Southern Zone surveillance team.
