Empowering Women: Insights from the Nari Se Narayani Conference in New Delhi

New Delhi, March 8: The “Bharati: Nari Se Narayani” national conference, held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, focused on women’s issues and culture on the second day of International Women’s Day celebrations.

Following the event, prominent figures such as author Lakshmi Murdheshwar Puri, former Rajya Sabha MP Rakesh Sinha, and Dr. Sandhya Purecha, chairperson of the Sangeet Natak Akademi, shared their thoughts on women’s status and cultural significance in the country.

Author Lakshmi Murdheshwar Puri expressed her pride in participating in the event, stating, “I feel honored to be here and part of this program. This is the first event that has brought together women from every state, every generation, and every class. Discussions revolved around the status of women in India and their future. PM Modi has also emphasized women’s development as a path to a developed India. This program aims not only to inspire the current generation but also to lay the foundation for the future.”

Former Rajya Sabha MP Rakesh Sinha remarked on the event’s significance, saying, “Leftist women’s organizations have overlooked these issues, while nationalist women’s organizations have addressed them. The most significant achievement is that the women’s movement has become inclusive and is working for women from every corner of the country.”

Social activist Shashi Buwana, who also attended the event, highlighted her years of work for women’s development. She stated, “I believe women should not be confined to family roles but should also contribute to building a better society. Women from all backgrounds face various challenges, and this platform aims to understand these issues and find solutions.”

Dr. Sandhya Purecha emphasized the blend of ancient wisdom and modernity discussed at the conference. She stated, “We are pleased to have addressed complex topics related to women today. Discussions included women’s empowerment, strengthening families, guiding culture and progress, and the impact of media and cinema. The journey from ‘Nari to Narayan’ was also highlighted. India has won the world not with weapons but with its knowledge and culture. Our Prime Minister has stressed the importance of women’s development, and it is believed that when women rise, civilization rises.”
