Divya Dutta Embraces Singlehood and Challenges Patriarchal Norms

Mumbai, March 18: Actress Divya Dutta is known for her powerful portrayals on screen, but she is equally recognized for her candid and truthful conversations in real life. Recently, she openly discussed societal expectations regarding singlehood, marriage, and motherhood.

In an exclusive interview, Divya shared her thoughts on the pressures society places on individuals regarding their life choices. She emphasized that every person’s journey is unique and cannot be measured by a single standard.

When asked about the challenges of being single in today’s world and whether society still believes that a woman is only ‘complete’ with a partner or children, Divya responded, “Whether I have a partner or I’m single, I enjoy my life, and that is what matters most. I believe everyone’s story is different. It’s not right to generalize that having a partner is better than being single. What works for you is what is best. For me, this is right, and I am happy with it.”

She further stated, “I firmly believe that people should not judge others’ life choices. If someone finds a good partner, that’s great for them. If not, they should do what feels right for them. You cannot measure someone’s life with the same scale. My life has been this way, and I enjoy it. Therefore, I take pride in the decisions I have made.”

Discussing the lingering patriarchal mindset in society, Divya remarked, “Despite progress, these old beliefs persist. Education has nothing to do with it; it’s merely a mindset. Every person’s journey is different and deserves respect, not comparison.”
