R. Madhavan Clarifies Controversy Surrounding Dhruvandar 2

Mumbai, March 24: The film ‘Dhruvandar 2’, directed by Aditya Dhar, continues to create a buzz at the box office while also attracting controversy. The film has faced criticism for allegedly hurting the sentiments of the Sikh community due to a particular scene. In response, R. Madhavan has clarified that it was never his intention to offend anyone.

In a video posted on Instagram, Madhavan apologized to the Sikh community and explained that there has been a misunderstanding. He mentioned that in one scene, his character was supposed to recite lines from the Dasam Granth of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Some viewers interpreted this scene as him smoking a cigarette while delivering those lines, which led to feelings of hurt among some community members.

Madhavan stated, “I remember during the scene, the editor and director Aditya Dhar clearly instructed me to extinguish the cigarette well before delivering my lines. He is particularly attentive to such details. He made it clear that no smoke should be visible, and there should be no cigarette in the frame.”

Expressing his respect for the Sikh community, Madhavan added, “I did extinguish the cigarette. If you watch the entire scene, you will see that there is no smoke coming from my mouth, nor is there any sign of a cigarette in the frame. We had no intention of hurting anyone’s feelings. We stand with the entire Sikh community and will always do so. It is well-known that I visit the Golden Temple before every film release.”

He concluded his apology by saying, “If anyone felt hurt, knowingly or unknowingly, I sincerely apologize. We certainly did not intend to cause any offense.” Madhavan urged viewers to watch the complete scene carefully to clear up any misunderstandings.
