Discover the Benefits of Naukasana for Digestive Health and Weight Loss

New Delhi, August 6: In today’s fast-paced lifestyle, digestive issues and obesity have become common concerns. Naukasana, also known as Boat Pose, is one of the yoga asanas that is beneficial for both the abdomen and overall body balance.

Naukasana is derived from two words: ‘Nawa’, meaning ‘boat’, and ‘asana’, meaning ‘posture’. When performing this pose, the body takes on a shape resembling a boat, hence the name.

According to the Ministry of AYUSH, Naukasana is an effective yoga posture that helps strengthen and balance the body. It directly impacts the muscles of the abdomen, back, and thighs, aiding in fat reduction. Additionally, it contributes to strengthening the spine. This asana not only enhances physical strength but also assists in maintaining mental focus and balance. Naukasana is considered effective for developing strong abs, with regular practice leading to significant abdominal strength.

To practice Naukasana, lie flat on your back with your legs together. Keep your arms straight alongside your body. Take a deep breath, and as you exhale, slowly lift your legs and chest off the ground. Simultaneously, stretch your arms forward towards your feet. Your gaze should be directed at your feet, with your arms and legs aligned. Feel the stretch in your abdominal muscles and hold this position for a few moments before gently returning to the starting position.

The Ministry of AYUSH advises against practicing Naukasana for individuals with serious heart conditions or asthma. If you suffer from migraines, severe headaches, or low blood pressure, it is best to avoid this pose, as it may exacerbate discomfort. Pregnant women should also refrain from practicing Naukasana due to the pressure it places on the abdomen.
