New Town, August 6: West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh provided updates on the Cabinet meeting, heavy rainfall, the situation in Bangladesh, healthcare services, and loan distribution in the Panchayat department. He stated that the West Bengal government is convening a Cabinet meeting today, where several important decisions are expected to be made in line with previous announcements.
Regarding the heavy rainfall, Minister Ghosh noted that continuous rain is affecting the entire country, including Kolkata. He mentioned that the persistent downpour over the past day has disrupted daily life. This natural disaster is beyond complete control, but the government is actively engaged in relief and rescue operations. He added that the central government has provided necessary financial assistance to the affected states, and the Union Home Minister has made essential announcements. Ghosh emphasized that efforts for improvement in the state are ongoing, and new announcements may follow the meeting.
On the current political situation in Bangladesh, the minister remarked that the ongoing events are not in the best interest of the country and its people. He noted that a new government has been formed there, and it is now their responsibility to govern effectively. He expressed hope that Bangladesh would soon return to normalcy, allowing its citizens to live in peace and stability.
Addressing the issue of Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee seeking treatment abroad, Dilip Ghosh stated that medical facilities in India have continually improved, and people should have confidence in the country’s hospitals and doctors. He pointed out that millions receive treatment within the country. Citing his mother’s heart treatment, he urged the public to maintain faith in Indian medical institutions and for political leaders to show trust in the national healthcare system.
On matters related to the Panchayat department, Ghosh mentioned that the government is reviewing how many individuals are actively working, how many have taken loans, and how those loans have been utilized. He clarified that an audit will be conducted for those who have taken loans. If any corruption is found during the investigation, strict action will be taken against the individuals involved. Conversely, those whose work is deemed satisfactory will be eligible for new loans. He revealed that this year, approximately ₹40,000 crores are planned to be distributed as loans through the Panchayat department.
