New Delhi, August 6: Congress leaders have come forward to defend the Jharkhand government in light of student protests against alleged irregularities in the JPSC recruitment examinations. They stated, “We stand with every moral demand of the students. The difference is that no batons with nails have been used in Jharkhand, nor have pellet guns been fired.”
Congress MP Pramod Tiwari commented on the student demonstrations, saying, “We support the steps taken by the Jharkhand government so far. Dialogue will resolve the students’ issues.”
In response to the protests against the Jharkhand paper leak, Congress MP Pawan Khera noted, “Our leaders visited the protest site on Wednesday and are in constant touch with the students. What has happened here is unprecedented elsewhere.”
Congress MP Sukdev Bhagat criticized the BJP and its allies for evading responsibility, stating, “They have no connection to the students’ issues. Chief Minister Hemant Soren is young and sensitive, and our Congress members are in contact with him. We are supporting the students, including those in humanitarian roles like doctors.”
He emphasized the need for transparency in the JPSC process to restore public trust, adding that the BJP is politicizing the issue. “In 16 years, the BJP has conducted five exams in the state, and none during their last term. Since Hemant Soren’s government took over, nine exams have been held. Following discrepancies in the OMR sheets, the JPSC chairman was removed, and 19 arrests have been made.”
Congress leader Rajesh Thakur expressed respect for the students’ movement, asserting that their protests are entirely justified given the circumstances. “Rahul Gandhi is amplifying the students’ voices nationwide. The concerns of students were acknowledged even before the current protests began, which is why raids commenced ahead of the movement.”
