Discover the Benefits of Half Camel Pose for Neck and Back Pain Relief
Practicing Half Camel Pose for just five minutes daily can alleviate neck and back pain, improve digestion, and promote overall wellness.

New Delhi, November 4 (Daily Kiran) : In today’s fast-paced world, many of us spend hours hunched over laptops and mobile devices, leading to various physical ailments. Yoga offers a solution, providing not only body stretching but also mental relaxation. Among the many yoga poses, Half Camel Pose, known as Ardh Ustrasana, stands out for its effectiveness and simplicity.
The word “Ustr” translates to “camel,” and “Ardh” means “half.” When performing this pose, the body resembles a camel that is slightly bent, giving it its name. Despite its straightforward appearance, the benefits of this pose are significant.
The Indian government’s Ministry of AYUSH has highlighted the advantages of practicing Half Camel Pose. According to their findings, this asana enhances blood circulation, ensuring that all body parts receive ample blood and oxygen, leaving one feeling refreshed and energized.
This pose not only increases the flexibility of the spine but also opens up the chest, improving respiratory capacity. Additionally, it helps relieve constipation and lower back pain. Regular practice activates the abdominal muscles and strengthens the digestive system, alleviating issues like constipation and promoting a lighter feeling in the stomach. Furthermore, the pose reduces mental stress; a healthy body contributes to a calm and happy mind.
Consistent practice of Half Camel Pose strengthens the muscles in the back and neck. During the pose, the spine stretches backward, creating tension in all surrounding muscles, which enhances blood circulation. With daily practice, these muscles become more flexible and strong, alleviating lower back pain and stiffness while improving posture.
The Ministry of AYUSH advises that individuals with any discomfort in the back or knees should consult a doctor before attempting this pose.
