Ministries Celebrate International Yoga Day with Focus on Healthy Aging

New Delhi, June 21: The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) celebrated the 12th International Yoga Day on Sunday at Sundar Nursery, in collaboration with its public sector undertakings, the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) and the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI).

This year’s event was aligned with the global theme, “Yoga for Healthy Aging,” highlighting the role of yoga in promoting physical strength, mental health, and healthy aging across all age groups.

The event was led by MNRE Secretary Santosh Kumar Sarangi, who described yoga as a lifestyle. He encouraged everyone to incorporate it into their daily routines at home or work for improved mental and physical health.

A large number of participants took part in the group yoga session, reflecting the growing recognition of yoga as an integral part of a healthy and balanced lifestyle. The event also served as a platform to raise awareness about preventive healthcare and overall well-being.

This initiative reaffirmed MNRE’s commitment to promoting a clean workplace culture and ensuring employee wellness, while also advancing the country’s clean energy and sustainable development goals.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) also celebrated the 12th International Yoga Day (IDY) 2026 in collaboration with the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

Civil Aviation Secretary Sameer Kumar Sinha urged participants not to limit their practice to just one day but to integrate yoga into their daily lives.

Sinha emphasized that yoga, pranayama, and meditation should be integral parts of our daily routines. Dedicating time to these practices contributes significantly to better health, increased energy, enhanced discipline, and a balanced lifestyle.

The Government of India’s Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Personnel and Training, Ministry of External Affairs, and the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser also organized events for the International Academic Year 2026.

Rohit Kansal, Secretary of the Rural Development Department, led the department’s participation in the program alongside other senior officials. He encouraged officials and staff to make yoga a part of their daily routines for a healthier and more productive lifestyle.
