
New Delhi, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : Sri Lanka‘s Sonal Dinusha, England’s Ollie Robinson, and Bangladesh’s Hasan Mahmood have been nominated for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for August 2026. The announcement was made on Thursday.
Each nominee played a crucial role in securing victories for their teams in Test cricket during the month. Dinusha, a left-handed batsman, showcased exceptional form in a two-match series against India. He started strong at the Galle International Stadium, scoring a remarkable century in the first Test and following it up with a gritty 84 in the second innings.
Dinusha’s performance in the second Test at Colombo’s SSC Ground was even more impressive. He scored 103 runs in the first innings and an unbeaten 133 in the second, helping Sri Lanka to draw the match. He ended the series as the leading run-scorer, amassing 420 runs at an average of 140 across two Tests.
On the other hand, England’s Ollie Robinson was instrumental in his team’s dominant start during the home Test series against Pakistan. The right-arm fast bowler delivered his career-best performance at Headingley in the first Test, taking 8 wickets for 80 runs. He followed this with another outstanding spell of 8 for 35 at Lord’s, leading England to easy victories in both matches and a 2-0 series lead. Robinson concluded August 2026 with an impressive average of 7.18, claiming 16 wickets.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s Hasan Mahmood emerged as the hero of his team’s historic Test victory on Australian soil. He played a match-winning role during the Test in Darwin, taking 6 wickets for 55 runs in the first innings and 3 for 56 in the second. His efforts helped Bangladesh secure a memorable win, drawing the two-match Test series against Australia 1-1. Throughout the series, Mahmood took 9 wickets at an average of 19.77.
