Kolkata, March 5: Ahead of the West Bengal assembly elections, BJP leader Dilip Ghosh has sharply criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her protest-led leadership. He stated that it is time for her to step down from power.
Ghosh remarked, “The Chief Minister has spent her life in protests. Fifteen years have passed in Bengal, yet the people have received nothing. They should at least be grateful for what Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sent from Delhi, but Mamata Banerjee has failed to deliver. She is merely a protest Chief Minister.”
Questioning the law and order situation in West Bengal, he added, “Law and order was in Mamata Banerjee’s hands, but she could not manage it effectively.”
Regarding the influence of the CPM in the upcoming elections, Ghosh suggested that Banerjee would use Congress and CPM as vote-splitting parties. He noted that the CPM’s office, which was previously closed, is now reopening as elections approach. Ghosh also claimed that TMC leaders are paying CPM members to meet over tea.
On Congress’s performance, Ghosh stated that the party has been in disarray for twelve years. He remarked that in Bihar, Congress supporters are hard to find, and even in Bengal, they are virtually nonexistent. He urged Congress to focus on strengthening its organization, as the public will not tolerate constant protests over every issue.
Commenting on the elections in Nepal, Ghosh expressed concern over the political turmoil affecting neighboring countries, which has impacted their economies and citizens’ lives. He noted that after the recent elections in Bangladesh, a stable government has emerged, and he hopes for similar stability in Nepal. He wished the people of Nepal well, encouraging them to choose a good government for their future.
Addressing rumors about Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s potential move to the Rajya Sabha, Ghosh acknowledged Kumar’s seniority and experience in Parliament. He stated that if the central government seeks his expertise, he should be sent.
On discussions regarding a new Chief Minister in Bihar, he mentioned that the party is currently awaiting a decision on leadership.
