Mumbai, June 12: Dia Mirza’s supported and produced Marathi short film ‘Panha’ is now screening. The film tells a poignant story of a family of farmers living in Maharashtra’s mango orchards.
On Friday, the actress shared photos from the screening on Instagram. The images featured the entire film team and some special guests. Notably, her close friend Shabana Azmi was also present at the event.
In her post, the actress wrote, “Last week, the screening of ‘Panha’ took place at GFA, where we enjoyed a beautiful evening filled with cinema, conversation, and connection. This film is very close to my heart. It was produced by One India Stories, which I co-founded with my childhood friend Ananya Rane.”
Dia elaborated on the film, stating, “The film began with our belief that stories help people understand the world better and foster sensitivity, awareness, and a spirit of change. Set against the backdrop of development and displacement, ‘Panha’ showcases the impact of a bullet train project on farming communities through the eyes of a child. It tells the story of home, belonging, memories, and the voices that often get lost between development and loss.”
She added, “Seeing the audience’s love for our film ‘Panha’ and the meaningful conversations that followed made the evening even more special. Sakshi, we are so proud of you. I am sharing glimpses of this beautiful evening and thanking everyone who made it possible. A heartfelt thank you to our partners who believed in and supported this project, and to everyone who has been with us from the inception of ‘Panha’ to the screening. Your support, encouragement, and belief made this moment possible.”
