Devoleena Bhattacharjee Criticizes Kunal Kamra for Joining Sonam Wangchuks Protest

Mumbai, July 16: Actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee has sharply criticized comedian Kunal Kamra for participating in social activist Sonam Wangchuk’s ongoing protest. She accused Kamra of exploiting the movement to further his own agenda, suggesting that he should end Wangchuk’s hunger strike and start one of his own.

Devoleena took to the social media platform X to express her views. She described the situation as a classic case of “washing hands in flowing Ganga,” accusing individuals of using Wangchuk’s movement for personal gain.

She stated, “This is what we call washing hands in flowing Ganga. Even if Sonam Wangchuk’s life is at stake, our agenda must continue. We all know who benefited from Anna Hazare’s movement. Whether students gain from this hunger strike or not, we will certainly turn the ongoing loot to our advantage.”

The actress urged those using the protest for political or personal messaging to take responsibility for their actions.

She added, “If that’s the case, then end Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike, feed him somehow, and start your own hunger strike.”

Kamra recently joined the protest and delivered a satirical speech, referencing Hindu mythology and making a joke that included, “Using Sita’s husband’s name, we work for Neeta’s husband.”

Regarding the protest, Sonam Wangchuk is on an indefinite hunger strike, demanding accountability for alleged irregularities in the NEET UG paper leak and calling for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The protest also seeks significant reforms, with plans for a peaceful march to Parliament during the monsoon session.

Professionally, Devoleena gained fame for her role as Gopi Bahu in the long-running television show ‘Saath Nibhaana Saathiya.’ She later appeared in reality shows like ‘Bigg Boss 13.’

Through her social media platforms, she consistently voices her opinions on social, political, and national issues.
