Mumbai, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : Television star Asha Negi has spoken out against actor Rohit Roy’s recent comment labeling the medium as a “dustbin.” In an interview, Roy expressed that television actors lack the “style and class” found in film stars. Negi, reflecting on his remarks, stated that she is unsure of the motivations behind Roy’s statements or the disappointments he may have faced.
In a conversation, Negi emphasized the significance of television in her career, asserting that it is the medium that has brought her recognition. “I don’t know what his intentions were. I can’t comment on the disappointments he might be experiencing. But everything I am today is because of television, and I am grateful for that,” she said.
Negi rose to fame through her role in the popular series “Pavitra Rishta,” alongside late actor Sushant Singh Rajput and Ankita Lokhande. She noted, “Television has given me everything. It has made me a household name, and even today, people recognize me as Purvi from ‘Pavitra Rishta.'”
The actress expressed her gratitude towards the television industry, insisting that the opportunities she received from it could never be matched by cinema or OTT platforms.
Currently, Asha Negi is starring in the latest horror-comedy and mystery web series “Ali Baba Aur 40 Bhoot,” where she plays the character Ali, alongside Vishal Vashishtha. The show follows a girl named Alisha, who returns to her hometown in search of her missing archaeologist father.
