New Delhi, February 16: In a significant move to enhance urban infrastructure and alleviate traffic congestion, Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated a state-of-the-art multi-level parking facility at the Nehru Place District Center in South Delhi on Monday.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta highlighted that many proposed parking projects during previous administrations remained stagnant in files. However, she noted that the BJP government has successfully launched automatic multi-level parking in Punjabi Bagh and modern automatic shuttle parking in Greater Kailash within just one year.

She attributed the swift advancement of stalled development projects in Delhi to the unified mandate of the public. Expressing gratitude for the Lieutenant Governor’s guidance, she acknowledged his significant contribution to the achievements made in the government’s first year.

Describing the new multi-level parking facility, Chief Minister Gupta stated that this six-story modern structure can accommodate 650 four-wheelers and 352 two-wheelers simultaneously. On a rotational basis, the facility is expected to assist in parking approximately 2,000 vehicles daily. She emphasized that this initiative is a crucial step in addressing Delhi’s growing needs.

Gupta mentioned that a comprehensive plan is being developed for the establishment of parks and parking facilities, which will be implemented on available DDA land in areas facing severe parking shortages.

The event was attended by South Delhi MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, DDA Vice Chairman N. Sarvana Kumar, and other senior DDA officials.

The Chief Minister criticized previous Delhi governments for failing to establish effective coordination with the center and the Lieutenant Governor, which led to many welfare projects being delayed for years. She praised the current administration’s efforts, noting that the Lieutenant Governor has personally inspected various sites and continuously monitored projects related to drainage cleaning, road construction, and infrastructure development.

Gupta stated, “Through these joint efforts, we are rapidly advancing the work to make Delhi cleaner, more organized, and more developed.”
