New Delhi: Senior citizens in Delhi who faced delays in receiving their old age pension due to technical and administrative issues will soon get their pending payments. The city government has obtained special approval from the Finance Department following directives from Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and efforts by the Social Welfare Minister.
The Social Welfare Department has been authorized to disburse all outstanding pension amounts within this week. Beneficiaries will receive the full arrears of their pension payments, ensuring financial support reaches them promptly.
Delhi currently has over 4.35 lakh old age pension beneficiaries. While a section had experienced disruptions in pension payments, most recipients have continued to receive their pensions regularly. Minister Ravindra Indraj Singh has issued clear instructions to expedite the completion of all necessary procedures to clear pending dues.
Starting this week, remaining beneficiaries will begin receiving their pensions, with the entire pending amount credited directly to their bank accounts. The Minister has also emphasized increasing transparency and accountability in the pension payment process.
Providing social security to the elderly remains the highest priority for the Delhi government. Alongside the pension scheme, the administration is committed to ensuring dignified living standards for senior citizens by distributing quality assistive devices and working towards opening new old age homes.
