Delhi Takes First Step Towards Becoming Creative Delhi: CM Rekha Gupta

New Delhi, March 31: The International Film Festival held in Delhi concluded with an awards ceremony attended by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, and Culture Minister Kapil Mishra. During the event, filmmaker Om Prakash Mehra was honored with an award.

In her speech, CM Rekha Gupta stated, “It has always been said, ‘Come to Delhi,’ which signifies that Delhi is a hub of power. However, the first step towards establishing Delhi as ‘Creative Delhi’ has been taken by Kapil Mishra and the entire tourism department team.”

Referencing the film ‘Kranti,’ CM Gupta remarked, “Kranti is a film we have watched numerous times, and each viewing ignites a desire to contribute to our country. After watching Kranti, patriotism flows through our veins.” She also mentioned Aamir Khan’s film ‘Three Idiots’ and Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhawa,’ stating, “These remarkable films evoke various emotions within us. Some made us laugh, while others brought us to tears. They presented stories we had only heard about, reinforcing the idea that films are a mirror of society.”

At the International Film Festival Delhi (IFFD), LG Taranjit Singh Sandhu noted, “Somewhere in India, a young filmmaker sits in a small room, without a grand studio or a big budget, just a story—perhaps a memory of a grandmother, the chaos of a city, a quiet love, or a silent struggle. That story travels from a notebook to a camera and then to the screen, eventually finding a place in festivals like this, turning what was once personal into a story for the world.”

He further added, “This is the beauty of cinema, and we have witnessed this on stage in recent days. Stories transcend language, culture, and borders. Through films, we not only share stories but also promote humanity. Some stories may not be in our language, yet we can still connect with them.”

He concluded by stating that the International Film Festival Delhi is not just a platform for filmmakers and artists but a window through which the entire world observes us, allowing us to present ourselves to a global audience.
