New Delhi, 30 December. Ahead of the New Year, to assess security measures and prepare for emergencies, a mock drill was conducted on Tuesday in the Lal Quarter area under Krishna Nagar police station in Shahdara district. The exercise aimed to test the readiness of the police and other agencies in handling any suspicious situations during the festive season.

According to the mock drill scenario, at 12:18 pm the fire department received information, followed by a call to Krishna Nagar police station at 12:21 pm reporting an unattended bag lying near a shop in Lal Quarter for a long time.

The information also mentioned wires protruding from the bag, raising concerns that it might contain an explosive device.

Immediately after receiving the information, the police secured the area without delay and alerted the relevant agencies. Within minutes, the Krishna Nagar police team, ACP of Gandhi Nagar division, fire brigade, dog squad, and bomb squad arrived at the scene. The entire area was cordoned off, and the public was kept at a safe distance.

All agencies coordinated closely to begin the investigation. The bomb squad conducted a thorough examination of the suspicious bag, while the dog squad searched the surrounding area. After about half an hour of the drill, it was confirmed that the bag did not contain any explosive material. The bag was found to have only clothes, some wires, and a water bottle.

Fire officer Surendra Singh stated, “When we arrived at the site, the Delhi Police team was already present. This was a mock drill. There is no cause for concern. This exercise was conducted in view of the upcoming festivals to ensure all agencies remain alert and prepared.”

Officials said the mock drill was completely successful and sent a message that the administration is fully prepared to handle any emergency situation during the festive season.
