New Delhi, March 16: The police have arrested a suspect in a mobile theft case in the Patparganj Industrial Area of East Delhi. The stolen mobile phone was also recovered from the accused.
According to police reports, there has been a recent surge in mobile theft incidents in the Patparganj Industrial Area. Taking this issue seriously, a special police team was formed under the supervision of the station in-charge and the guidance of ACP Madhu Vihar. Head Constables Pradeep and Sheeshpal were assigned to conduct intensive patrols in sensitive areas.
The suspect, identified as Aman alias Bandar (28) from Nand Nagri, Delhi, was apprehended after he snatched a mobile phone from a man named Mujafar. Mujafar had come to ISBT Anand Vihar to drop off his uncle and was standing near the bus terminal exit, checking his phone when the incident occurred. Upon realizing his phone was stolen, Mujafar raised an alarm.
Hearing the commotion, nearby patrolling officers quickly sprang into action and pursued the fleeing suspect. After a brief chase, the police team managed to apprehend him. During the search, they recovered the stolen mobile phone from his possession.
During interrogation, it was revealed that Aman had only completed sixth grade and worked as a laborer. However, due to his addiction to drugs, he became involved in criminal activities. He is reportedly addicted to marijuana, smack, and alcohol.
Police investigations revealed that Aman has been active in criminal activities since 2017, with involvement in 39 cases registered across various police stations in the North-East District, Shahdara District, and the Crime Branch. His criminal record includes charges of robbery, snatching, theft, violations of the Arms Act, and the Excise Act.
A case has been registered at the Patparganj Industrial Area police station under relevant sections of the BNS, and further investigations are ongoing. Police officials stated that the suspect was apprehended promptly due to vigilant patrolling and swift action.
