Chinas Marine GDP Expected to Exceed 110 Trillion Yuan by 2025

Beijing, March 18: According to the “2025 China Marine Economy Statistical Bulletin” released by the Chinese Ministry of Natural Resources, initial estimates indicate that China’s marine GDP will reach 110 trillion 18 billion yuan by 2025. This represents a 5.5 percent increase from 2024 and accounts for 7.9 percent of the national GDP.

In terms of a three-sector structure, the added value of the primary marine industry was 4 trillion 92 billion 30 million yuan, the secondary marine industry’s added value was 41 trillion 1 billion 70 million yuan, and the tertiary marine industry’s added value was 64 trillion 24 billion yuan. These figures correspond to 4.5 percent, 37.2 percent, and 58.3 percent of the gross marine product, respectively.

Traditional marine industries have continued to grow steadily and rapidly. The capacity to ensure the supply of marine aquatic products has strengthened consistently. E-commerce live streaming and other diverse sales and rapid delivery services are being implemented swiftly. The capacity to secure marine oil and gas resources is also continuously improving. The marine engineering and construction industry has seen ongoing development, while the shipbuilding sector continues its rapid growth. The marine chemical industry has experienced relatively swift growth, and the marine transportation industry is also developing steadily and rapidly.

Meanwhile, emerging marine industries are consistently expanding. There have been rapid improvements in the marine engineering equipment manufacturing sector. The marine pharmaceuticals and biological products industry has maintained stable growth. The offshore wind energy market continues to expand, and the marine water desalination and comprehensive utilization industry is also developing steadily.
