New Delhi, May 13: Delhi government minister Kapil Mishra traveled by metro on Wednesday, emphasizing that this action is part of the government’s efforts to reduce fuel consumption and promote energy conservation, in response to Prime Minister Modi’s appeal amid global economic uncertainty.
Mishra shared a video of his metro journey on the social media platform X, stating, “In line with Prime Minister Modi’s call, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and all ministers have resolutely begun implementing this initiative. I will use public transport or a government vehicle only when absolutely necessary. Today, I traveled on the Delhi Metro.”
His statement comes a day after Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced a comprehensive initiative aimed at reducing fuel usage and encouraging public transport and carpooling among ministers, legislators, and government officials.
On Tuesday night, Chief Minister Gupta posted on X, noting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens to save petrol and diesel and make energy conservation a public movement, considering the current global situation.
She wrote, “In light of the Prime Minister’s significant appeal, we have decided to limit the number of vehicles used for departmental work. I, along with all my cabinet colleagues, BJP legislators, public representatives, and Delhi government officials, will prioritize minimal vehicle use and promote carpooling and public transport.”
Highlighting energy conservation as a matter of national interest, the Chief Minister stated that the Delhi government is committed to promoting fuel conservation and the use of public transport.
Gupta urged all residents of Delhi to join this national effort for energy conservation in response to the Prime Minister’s call.
These appeals follow PM Modi’s speech at a public meeting organized by the BJP at Parade Ground in Secunderabad, Telangana, where he urged citizens to adopt fuel-saving measures in light of ongoing conflicts in West Asia and their impact on the global economy.
