Delhi Increases Commercial LPG Supply by 50%, Minister Dismisses Rumors

New Delhi, March 26: In accordance with directives from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, the Delhi government has increased the allocation of commercial LPG cylinders from 20% to 50%. This adjustment raises the daily supply from 1,800 to 4,500 cylinders (19 kg each). The enhanced supply is effective immediately, ensuring that essential services, hotels, industries, and migrant workers receive uninterrupted support.

Food and Supply Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government. He stated, “We thank Prime Minister Modi for his visionary leadership. His timely decisions will ensure there are no issues with the supply of commercial LPG in Delhi.”

Under the new arrangement, LPG distribution is categorized into seven key sectors, with a total of 4,500 cylinders allocated daily. Category 1 includes essential services (schools, hospitals, bus stations, railways, airports) – 225 cylinders (5%); Category 2 covers two government institutions, PSUs, industrial canteens, and community kitchens – 225 cylinders (5%); Category 3, which encompasses hotels, restaurants, dhabas, food processing, and dairy, receives 3,375 cylinders (75%); Category 4 for catering and banquets – 225 cylinders (5%); Category 5 for small industries (dry cleaning, packing, pharma) – 45 cylinders (1%); Category 6 for sports facilities and stadiums – 225 cylinders (5%); and Category 7 for migrant workers (5 kg cylinders) – 684 cylinders (4%).

The supply is being managed according to central government regulations, based on the average consumption over the past three months, prioritizing essential sectors.

To prevent hoarding and black marketing, 70 joint teams from the Weights and Measures and Food and Supply departments are conducting inspections throughout Delhi. Strict action will be taken against violators under the Essential Commodities Act of 1955, the LPG Distribution Order of 2000, and the Indian Penal Code of 2024.

Minister Sirsa assured that the situation is fully under control. The supply is normal, and distribution continues smoothly. He urged the people of Delhi not to pay attention to or spread any rumors.

He further emphasized that his department is in constant contact with suppliers and IGL. IGL provides a PNG progress report every week. Consumers will face no issues, and all regulations are being followed with complete transparency.

Minister Sirsa reiterated that under the guidance of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi government is committed to delivering LPG without interruption across all sectors, whether for essential services, industries, or migrant workers.
