Delhi Blast Case: Custody of Shahin Saeed and Three Others Extended by Court

New Delhi: The Patiala House Court has extended the custody of Dr. Shahin Saeed, Mufti Irfan Ahmed, Yasir Bilal Wani, Dr. Adil Ahmed, and Muzammil for three more days under the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with the blast near the Red Fort metro station in Delhi.

The NIA had sought the police remand of Dr. Shahin on Tuesday. Earlier, the court had sent Dr. Shahin to judicial custody last month. The agency stated that the extension is necessary for detailed interrogations and to uncover the network behind the explosion.

The investigation is focused on understanding how the blast was planned, identifying accomplices, and tracing the procurement of weapons and explosives. The NIA believes the module is linked to terrorist groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed. Several accused, including Dr. Muzammil Shakeel Ghani, Dr. Shahin Saeed, and Mufti Irfan, have already been arrested.

The NIA, working alongside central and state agencies, is probing the entire conspiracy. Links to foreign handlers have also emerged during the investigation. These arrests mark a significant development in the case, with further disclosures expected. The attack has raised concerns about the security arrangements in the capital, prompting the investigation to proceed rapidly.

Earlier, on January 5, the Patiala House Court had extended the judicial custody of accused Yasir Ahmad Dar until January 16 under NIA custody in the same blast case. After the expiry of his previous custody, Yasir Ahmad Dar was produced again before the court, where the NIA requested an extension for detailed questioning, which was granted.

According to the NIA investigation, Umar-un-Nabi was the mastermind behind the terrorist attack on November 10 near the Red Fort, driving the explosive-laden vehicle. The blast claimed 15 lives. So far, nine individuals, including Dr. Muzammil Ghani, Dr. Adil Rather, and Dr. Shahin Saeed, have been arrested in connection with the incident.
