DC Triumphs Over LSG with Rizvis Explosive Half-Century in IPL 2026

Lucknow, April 2: Delhi Capitals (DC) kicked off their campaign in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 with a victory. They defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by six wickets in the fifth match of the season at Ekana Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. Samir Rizvi was the star of the match, scoring an unbeaten 70 runs off 47 balls.

LSG, batting first after losing the toss, collapsed for 141 runs in just 18.4 overs. They lost their captain Rishabh Pant (7) early, with the team at a mere 19 runs. Mitchell Marsh contributed with a partnership of 29 runs alongside Aiden Markram (11) for the second wicket.

Marsh scored 35 runs before the team lost their fifth wicket at a score of 71. Abdul Samad then formed crucial partnerships, scoring 36 runs off 25 balls, while Mukul Chaudhary added 14 runs. Shahbaz Ahmed remained not out with 15 runs. From the opposition, Lungi Ngidi and T Natarajan took three wickets each, while Kuldeep Yadav claimed two wickets, and Axar Patel took one.

In response, Delhi Capitals chased down the target in 17.1 overs. They faced an early setback, losing KL Rahul (0) on the first ball. The team was in trouble at 26 runs, having lost four wickets, including Pathum Nissanka (1), Nitish Rana (15), and captain Axar Patel, who went out without scoring.

However, Rizvi partnered with Tristan Stubbs to secure the win, putting together a remarkable 119-run partnership for the fifth wicket off 76 balls. Rizvi finished with 70 runs, hitting four sixes and five fours, while Stubbs remained not out with 39 runs. Prince Yadav from the opposing team took two wickets for 20 runs, while Mohammad Shami and Mohsin Khan each claimed one wicket.
