Ranchi, March 25: In a shocking turn of events, Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, experienced a surge in criminal activity on Tuesday night. Defying police patrols and security claims, criminals wreaked havoc across various police jurisdictions, targeting two petrol stations, a CNG station, and a local shop.
In the BIT police area, a group of six armed robbers stormed two petrol stations, making off with millions in cash. Meanwhile, in Tatisilwe, the Gail CNG station was also attacked. In a separate incident in the Ormanjhi area, a shopkeeper was brutally stabbed, leaving the community in fear.
The first major incident occurred in the BIT police area, where the assailants, arriving by car and motorcycle, threatened staff with weapons. They stole over two lakh rupees from the first petrol station and around two thousand rupees from the second. Taking advantage of the sparse crowd, the robbers cleared the cash counter after threatening the employees.
Upon receiving the report, BIT OP in-charge Ajay Kumar Das arrived at the scene, seizing CCTV footage to aid in identifying the criminals. That same night, the Gail CNG station in the Tatisilwe police area became the second target. Five robbers brandished weapons and stole approximately twelve thousand rupees, with the entire incident captured on CCTV. The Tatisilwe police are currently investigating all leads based on this footage.
In Ormanjhi, a shopkeeper was attacked with a knife, either during a robbery or due to a personal dispute. The seriously injured shopkeeper has been hospitalized for treatment. These four incidents in one night have raised serious concerns about the security situation in the capital. Police have formed multiple teams to conduct raids in response to the escalating crime wave.
