Couple Arrested in Murder Case Following Police Coordination Between States

Srinagar, June 28: The Reasi police in Jammu and Kashmir demonstrated prompt action and effective inter-state coordination by successfully apprehending a couple wanted in a murder case registered in Uttarakhand. The couple was handed over to the relevant police for further legal proceedings.

The Katra police station received information from the Dhanya police station in Almora district, Uttarakhand, regarding the couple. Dharambir, a resident of Sheikhpur in Hisar, Haryana, allegedly committed murder with his wife, Jhanki Devi, on June 20 at their ancestral home before fleeing to Uttarakhand. Investigations revealed that both suspects were residing in Katra.

Following this, the Dhanya police informed the Katra police. Acting swiftly, a police team led by PSI Shubham Sharma was dispatched to locate and apprehend the suspects. Thanks to their quick actions and persistent efforts, the police team successfully found and arrested both individuals at the BNK Hotel in Katra’s main market.

Subsequently, the relevant police station in Uttarakhand was notified immediately. After completing all necessary legal formalities, the suspects were handed over for further investigation and legal action.

In a related incident, another case emerged from Kashmir on Saturday. The State Investigation Agency (SIA) took action against a fugitive involved in a cross-border narco-terrorism case linked to heroin trafficking by a Pakistan-based terrorist network. This action was carried out in compliance with court orders. The declaration against the absconding accused, Bilal Shabbir Awan, was made at his ancestral home in the Karanah tehsil of Kupwara district, in the presence of an executive magistrate and independent witnesses.
