Jaipur, March 6 (Daily Kiran): A major fire broke out in a three-storey factory manufacturing plastic coolers in Jaipur on Friday morning, creating panic in the area as several gas cylinders were kept inside the building. Firefighters took more than four hours to bring the blaze under control.

The incident occurred in the Bindayaka Industrial Area. After receiving information about the fire, around 40 fire brigade vehicles from Bindayaka, Bagru, Jhotwara and Mansarovar, along with private water tankers, were deployed to douse the flames.

Although the fire caused extensive damage, no major casualties were reported. However, all the coolers stored inside the factory were destroyed in the blaze. Due to the incident, traffic in the surrounding industrial area was diverted as a precautionary measure.

The factory, which manufactures coolers and fans, belongs to Ramesh Lakhwani. Gas cylinders were kept on the third floor of the building, which increased the risk during the firefighting operation. Civil Defence personnel managed to safely remove 11 commercial cylinders from inside the factory.

Considering the intensity of the fire, a special Turntable Ladder (TTL) vehicle from Jaipur Fire Brigade was also called to the spot. Firefighters used the equipment to reach the upper floors of the three-storey building and control the flames.

Officials also found that several fire-fighting equipment installed inside the factory had crossed their expiry date. Fire personnel used a JCB machine to break the rear portion of the building in order to enter the premises and control the fire from inside.

As a safety measure, roads around the industrial area were temporarily closed and traffic was diverted.

A local resident, Komal, said that flames were first noticed rising from inside the factory in the morning. When the door of the factory was knocked, four people came out and said they had been sleeping inside and were unaware that a fire had broken out.

Bindayaka SHO Rajesh Verma said that the fire is initially believed to have been caused by a short circuit. However, an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the fire and to examine the presence of commercial cylinders inside the factory.
