Ranchi, June 25: The Congress party has initiated a nationwide campaign titled ‘Students’ Echo’ to address the concerns of students and competitive exam candidates. Imran Pratapgarhi, a member of the Rajya Sabha, announced the campaign during a press conference in Ranchi on Thursday. This initiative will run for the next 40 days across 28 major cities in the country. Its aim is to raise public awareness regarding student issues, paper leaks, and irregularities in examinations.
Pratapgarhi highlighted that there have been numerous incidents of paper leaks and examination-related discrepancies in recent years, which have eroded students’ trust in the examination system. He accused the authorities of failing to take effective action against those responsible, thereby impacting the future of millions of young people.
The Congress MP criticized Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, stating that accountability for the repeated failures in the examination system must be established. He asserted that the education minister should resign, emphasizing, “Changing the thermometer does not cure the fever.” According to him, there is a need to address the root causes of the issues and improve the system.
Pratapgarhi mentioned that the campaign was launched by Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, from Kota, Rajasthan. He stressed that this is not just an examination-related issue but a matter concerning the future, employment, and opportunities for the youth of the country. Through this campaign, Congress is demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, a fair investigation into paper leak cases, an independent audit of the entire examination system including the National Testing Agency (NTA), and the implementation of an annual examination and recruitment calendar to ensure timely appointments.
The campaign will include student outreach programs, street meetings, campus dialogues, and awareness initiatives. In the first phase, a sit-in at collector offices will take place in 28 cities on August 1, followed by a ‘March to Delhi’ event on August 9 to conclude the first phase. The Congress party has urged students and candidates to actively participate in this campaign.
