Congress Criticizes Chief Minister Yadav Over Chhindwara Tragedy

Mumbai, March 28: The opposition Congress party in Madhya Pradesh has criticized Chief Minister Mohan Yadav following a tragic road accident in Chhindwara district. The incident resulted in the deaths of 10 individuals and left over 30 others injured.

State Congress President Jitu Patwari visited the affected families and accused Yadav of coercing villagers to attend the Chief Minister’s rally. He met with the injured at Chhindwara District Hospital, alleging that people were intimidated and pressured to participate in the event. Women, in particular, faced threats and were lured with a promise of 1,500 rupees to attend the gathering. These circumstances led to the devastating tragedy that claimed more than 10 lives and injured many others.

Patwari further claimed that Anganwadi workers were pressured to bring a specific number of women to the rally, with explicit threats of job termination for non-compliance. Similarly, a school assistant received stern warnings to ensure their presence at the event. Such incidents raise serious questions about the appropriateness of exerting pressure for government programs.

He stated that this incident exemplifies negligence, mismanagement, and a lack of accountability from government officials.

Earlier on Saturday, the state Congress announced financial assistance of 50,000 rupees for the families of the deceased and called for a uniform compensation policy for the accident victims. Opposition leader Umang Singhar stated during a press conference in Bhopal that the Congress party would provide 50,000 rupees to each family of the deceased victims.

Notably, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also visited the affected families, assuring them that the government stands by them during this difficult time.
