New Delhi, August 7: The Congress party has launched a strong critique against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab regarding claims of government jobs, recruitment processes, and the transparency of examination systems. In Chandigarh, Congress legislators and the deputy leader of the Punjab Congress Legislative Party, Aruna Chaudhary, demanded the government release a white paper on job claims. She also questioned the recruitment process, appointments made after retirement, and issues related to paper leaks.
Congress legislator Rana Gurjeet Singh spoke to a news agency, stating that the party is protesting for the interests of the people of Punjab. He accused the state government of engaging in mere political posturing with statistics, while the ground reality tells a different story. The government claims to have created 68,000 new jobs, but it remains unclear how many of these are actual new appointments versus positions filled due to retirements or employee deaths. He emphasized that these facts will only come to light if the government publishes a detailed white paper.
When asked about Rahul Gandhi referring to former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh as his favorite BJP leader, Rana Gurjeet Singh stated that there is nothing wrong with that. He expressed respect for Captain Amarinder Singh, noting that Rahul Gandhi inquired about his health after his illness and surgery, unlike the BJP, which he accused of practicing a “use and throw” political strategy.
Congress legislator Paragat Singh also raised questions about the government’s employment claims. He pointed out that approximately 10,000 to 12,000 government employees retire each year. While Congress can provide a list of retired employees from the past five years, the government has failed to disclose a complete list of new recruitments despite repeated requests. He insisted that the government clarify how many appointments have been made for which positions and how many are genuinely new hires.
He accused the government of lacking both the capability and the will to work for Punjab. Therefore, he urged the government to release a white paper to make the facts public.
Aruna Chaudhary also criticized the government regarding irregularities in examinations. She stated that attempts are being made to differentiate between paper leaks and cheating, asserting that if exam question papers are transmitted externally via Bluetooth or other means, it constitutes a clear case of a paper leak. She noted that if answers or questions are reaching students through Bluetooth, it indicates that the exam materials were already leaked.
Chaudhary reiterated her demand for the government to publicly disclose all details related to job claims. If the government asserts that it is providing 65,000 to 68,000 jobs, it should make the details of each appointment available. She wants to know which candidate was appointed to which position, their district of residence, and the complete record of appointments.
Congress legislators have urged the government to issue a comprehensive white paper as soon as possible to ensure transparency, allowing the public to understand the true status of the recruitment process and job claims.
