Light Rain

Bhopal, October 13 (Daily Kiran): Cold weather has officially arrived in Madhya Pradesh, with night temperatures dipping across major cities including Bhopal, Indore, and Ujjain. While the southwest monsoon has withdrawn from most parts of the state, light rainfall is still likely in a few eastern districts on Monday.

Light Rain

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), districts in eastern Madhya Pradesh — including Mandla, Balaghat, Anuppur, and Dindori — may experience light rain over the next three days. However, no major weather system capable of causing heavy rainfall is currently active.

Meanwhile, the rest of the state is witnessing a noticeable drop in minimum temperatures, signaling the onset of early winter conditions. The IMD expects the monsoon to retreat completely from remaining regions within the next 2–3 days.

So far, the monsoon has withdrawn from over 40 districts, including Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Dhar, Barwani, Khargone, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Harda, Sehore, Vidisha, Sagar, Raisen, Narmadapuram, and Betul. However, it is still active in Singrauli, Sidhi, Shahdol, Umaria, Anuppur, Dindori, Mandla, Balaghat, Jabalpur, Chhindwara, and Pandhurna, where withdrawal is expected in the coming days.

Temperatures Drop Below 20°C Across the State

Meteorologists attribute the cooling trend to northerly winds triggered by fresh snowfall in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. The flow of cold air from the north has led to a sharp dip in nighttime temperatures across central India.

In the past two nights, most cities in Madhya Pradesh have recorded temperatures below 20°C:

  • Indore: 14°C

  • Bhopal & Ujjain: 17°C

  • Gwalior: 18.2°C

  • Jabalpur: 17°C

  • Betul: 16.8°C

  • Dhar: 15.5°C

  • Guna: 17.6°C

  • Khandwa & Shivpuri: 17°C

  • Khargone: 17.6°C

  • Rajgarh: 14.4°C

  • Naugaon: 15.3°C

  • Umaria: 17.5°C

With the northerly chill intensifying, residents can expect cooler mornings and nights in the coming week, while light rainfall in eastern Madhya Pradesh may further enhance the winter-like feel.
