Cocktail 2 Trailer Unveils Complexities of Love and Friendship

Mumbai, June 2: The 2012 film “Cocktail” introduced audiences to a fresh take on friendship, love, and relationships, featuring a beloved trio of Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Daina Penty. Now, nearly 14 years later, director Homi Adajania returns with “Cocktail 2.” This time, Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna take center stage. The trailer has just been released, showcasing a blend of romance, friendship, emotions, comedy, and the complexities of relationships.

The three-minute trailer opens with an intriguing line from Shahid Kapoor’s character, Kunal. He remarks, “When a relationship is new, it’s exciting. New friends seem fun because their stories feel fresh. But love is like that worn-out T-shirt we sleep in every night. When love turns into friendship, and friendship blends with love, there’s only one solution left to avoid it.”

Following this, the trailer introduces the characters: Kunal played by Shahid Kapoor, Diya portrayed by Rashmika Mandanna, and Ellie, played by Kriti Sanon. The trio shares a close bond, enjoying outings, vacations, and living life to the fullest.

Initially, everything appears fun, but the narrative takes a turn as love enters the friendship, leading to complications in their relationships. The trailer hints at a love triangle, revealing that both Diya and Ellie start developing feelings for Kunal. What began as friendship gradually evolves into romantic feelings, leaving Shahid’s character entangled in these emotions.

The trailer features several captivating dialogues that grab the audience’s attention. Kriti Sanon’s character states, “Everyone comes with their own expiry date, and after that, even medicine can turn into poison.” Towards the end, a humorous line from Shahid Kapoor brings smiles, as he declares, “I am not just a diamond; I am the Kohinoor.”

The music also plays a significant role in the trailer, featuring the popular song “Tum Hi Ho Bandhu” from the original “Cocktail.”

Produced under the banner of Maddock Films, the story of “Cocktail 2” is penned by Luv Ranjan and Tarun Jain. The film is set to hit theaters on June 19.
