CM Stalin Criticizes AIADMK for Offensive Remarks on Women

Chennai, March 19: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched a strong attack on AIADMK leaders over their alleged offensive comments about women. He stated that the people of the state are watching closely and will ultimately choose the path of development.

Responding on the social media platform X, Stalin accused the opposition of lowering the standard of political discourse. He emphasized that his government discusses achievements and state development with data, while the opposition lacks both accomplishments and policies.

Stalin remarked, “The people of Tamil Nadu are observing everything. They will choose a new dawn of development.”

The controversy began when C.V. Shanmugam allegedly made inappropriate comments about a female artist during a protest in Viluppuram, leading to widespread criticism. Subsequently, the party’s IT wing stated that he had apologized for his remarks.

The situation escalated further when former minister Dindigul Srinivasan was also accused of making derogatory comments against women. Various political parties condemned these remarks and called for maintaining decorum in public life.

This entire episode has emerged as political activities intensify ahead of the assembly elections in Tamil Nadu. While DMK is showcasing its governance, AIADMK is ramping up its campaign as the opposition.

This controversy has heightened tensions in the state’s politics, where exchanges and confrontations between the two major Dravidian parties are increasingly intense.
