CJP to Operate as a Pressure Group, Says Leader Abhijit Deepke

Mumbai, August 5: Abhijit Deepke, the leader of the Cockroach People’s Party (CJP), announced on Wednesday that his organization will function as a pressure group.

The CJP has convened a two-day core committee meeting to strategize on youth issues following the Jantar Mantar movement. Speaking to the media before the meeting, Deepke stated, “For now, CJP will operate as a pressure group.”

He added, “After the success of the initial movement, public expectations from us have increased. Along with this, our responsibilities have also grown. The Jantar Mantar movement was not limited to Delhi; it became a nationwide youth movement.” He emphasized that the responsibilities of the organization have expanded following this movement. The two-day meeting will focus on how to engage with youth across the country and what the future strategy should be.

When asked about the possibility of entering politics, Deepke remarked that public trust in institutions like politics, media, and government has diminished. He stressed the need for public movements and pressure to restore faith in democratic institutions. He noted that current political conditions have left people disillusioned, prompting youth to express their anger nationwide. The movement that began at Jantar Mantar will continue to progress.

Deepke reiterated that India currently needs a public movement. Regarding issues related to delimitation, he mentioned that discussions would also cover the country’s economic situation and other significant youth-related topics. He also stated, “We will visit students in Jharkhand.”

Meanwhile, party spokesperson Saurabh Das reported that several activists faced police action during the Parliament march. Many were injured during the lathi charge, and the Jantar Mantar area was cordoned off. He noted that during that time, Ashutosh Rang and he were in discussions with the government delegation. The upcoming meeting will also strategize on the next phase of the movement and the expansion of the organization.
