Indian Air Force Chief Outlines Priorities for Enhanced Combat Capability

Air Chief Marshal Ashutosh Dixit emphasizes combat readiness and innovation as key priorities for the Indian Air Force.

New Delhi, November 1 (Daily Kiran) : Air Chief Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, the newly appointed head of the Indian Air Force, inspected a guard of honor on Sunday, November 1, 2026. He outlined the force’s focus on four key principles encapsulated in the term “Vayu.” These principles include vigilance and readiness, self-reliance, innovation, and unified efforts. Dixit stated that enhancing the combat strength of the Air Force to a predetermined level is his top priority.

Notably, he arrived at the event in an electric vehicle, marking the first time an electric vehicle has been used as the official transport for the Air Force chief in the national capital. Prior to this, he paid homage at the National War Memorial, honoring the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation. After seeking blessings from his mother, Nirmala Dixit, and his mother-in-law, Kamla Pandey, he began his new responsibilities with a sense of pride and honor.

Dixit expressed gratitude to the President, Prime Minister, and Defense Minister for their trust in him. He also acknowledged the contributions of his predecessor, Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh, highlighting the decisive air power demonstrated during Operation Sindoor under Singh’s leadership. Dixit noted that he has taken command of a fully prepared Air Force.

Addressing ongoing security challenges, he pointed out the rapidly evolving nature of warfare due to new technologies and systems, including drones, long-range precision weapons, and advancements in space, cyber, and artificial intelligence. He emphasized the necessity for the Indian Air Force to adapt to the needs of the next decade while being prepared to engage and win battles at all times.

Dixit stressed that every squadron, radar unit, and air warrior must be ready to respond at a moment’s notice. Under the self-reliance initiative, priority will be given to indigenous projects like the Tejas MK-1A and MK-2, AMCA, Indian sensors, and homegrown weapons.

He affirmed that the Air Force would engage in combat using Indian solutions, ensuring a sufficient number of these capabilities to meet operational needs. The focus on innovation will encompass new strategies, processes, and technologies, including network-based command and control systems integrated with AI, multi-layered anti-drone security, improved maintenance systems, and the operational use of near-space capabilities.

Dixit also highlighted the importance of collaborative planning and operations with the Indian Army, Navy, and national agencies, asserting that the effective use of air power begins with integrated planning from the outset. He assured that the welfare, training, and morale of Air Force personnel, Agniveer Vayu recruits, civilian staff, veterans, and their families would be a personal priority.

In closing, he reassured the citizens that the Indian Air Force remains vigilant, prepared, and resolute, ready to fulfill its responsibilities whenever the nation calls upon it. He concluded his address with the Air Force’s motto, “Nabhah Sprsham Deeptam.”
