Indian Navy Delivers Relief Supplies to Flooded Villages in Odisha
The Indian Navy has launched aerial relief missions in Odisha to assist flood-affected communities following Cyclone Arnab.

Odisha, November 1 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian Navy is actively engaged in relief operations in Odisha following the devastating impact of Cyclone Arnab and subsequent flooding. With road access disrupted and many villages submerged, delivering essential supplies has become increasingly challenging. In response, the Navy’s helicopters have emerged as a vital lifeline for affected areas.
For the second consecutive day, the Eastern Naval Command conducted aerial relief missions in Ganjam district. Naval Sea King and Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH) completed multiple flights, delivering approximately 1,800 kilograms of relief supplies to the isolated village of Sara Bhimpur. This included 1,400 kilograms of food and 400 liters of fresh water. The severe flooding and blocked roadways made it difficult to reach residents in need.
Working in coordination with local authorities, the Indian Navy is ensuring that food and drinking water are delivered to those stranded by the floods. This operation underscores the Navy’s rapid response capabilities during natural disasters and its commitment to humanitarian aid and disaster relief.
Additionally, the Indian Coast Guard has been conducting aerial rescue operations in Odisha amid the cyclone’s aftermath. During these missions, the Coast Guard successfully rescued six individuals, including two women, two children, and an elderly person, from a flooded health center. This operation took place on October 29 in Ganjam district after the local administration reported the emergency.
Despite challenging weather conditions, the Coast Guard’s advanced light helicopter (ALH MK-3) was deployed promptly from its base in Bhubaneswar to assist in the rescue. The helicopter crew managed to locate the flooded health center, where several individuals were trapped due to rising waters.
The collaborative efforts of the Indian Navy and Coast Guard highlight the critical role of these forces in providing timely assistance during emergencies.
