Berlin, August 26: French attacking player Christopher Nkunku has returned to RB Leipzig after three years. The Bundesliga club has secured him on a one-season loan from AC Milan, with an option to make the move permanent.
During his previous four-year stint at RB Leipzig, Nkunku played a crucial role in helping the team win the German Cup in 2022 and 2023.
Nkunku expressed his excitement, stating, “When the opportunity to return to RB Leipzig arose, I truly wanted to seize it. I am very happy to be back, fully fit, and eager to help the team immediately. I can’t wait to step onto the pitch in front of my fans at Red Bull Arena.”
He mentioned that even after leaving the club, he closely followed Leipzig’s progress. “My relationship with the club is very special. After my transfer, I kept a close eye on what was happening at Leipzig, and I am ready to write another chapter here.”
Sporting Managing Director Marcel Schäfer commented, “We are very pleased that Christopher is back with us. He has already shown his exceptional quality at Leipzig and can decide games. He knows the club, the city, and the atmosphere, and his versatility in attack will provide us with more options.”

Nkunku has played for Paris Saint-Germain (2015-19), RB Leipzig (2019-23), Chelsea (2023-25), and AC Milan (2025) throughout his professional career, which began in 2015. He has scored 73 goals in 271 matches. For France, he has netted 2 goals in 18 appearances.
