New Delhi, August 26: Congress MP Imran Masood has responded to Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav‘s assertion regarding the electoral battle in Uttar Pradesh, stating that Rahul Gandhi is leading the fight against the BJP. He emphasized that this struggle involves allies from both sides.
In response to Yadav’s claim that the primary contest in Uttar Pradesh is between the BJP and the Samajwadi Party, Masood remarked, “There is a battle of two ideologies within the country. One is led by Rahul Gandhi, while the other is led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
Masood further stated, “This is a fight for ideology and change in the country. There will be allies on both sides, but the battle is clear and is being fought under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership. Everyone is united in this effort.”
Addressing allegations against Akhilesh Yadav regarding the privatization of the Jay Prakash Narayan International Centre in Lucknow, Masood said, “This government has sold off everything that was previously established. Therefore, the government operates on contracts. They are not willing to provide jobs because doing so would require them to offer reservations. Hence, they will run the government on contracts.”
He added that if the government can hire even joint secretary-level officials on a contractual basis, it raises concerns about the direction in which they aim to take the country.
On the Uttar Pradesh government’s decision to distribute tablets to Gen-Z, Masood commented, “Attraction alone will not suffice. In the past five years, 70 IIT students have committed suicide. If students from IIT are taking such drastic steps, it reflects the dire state of our country.”
Regarding the Allahabad High Court’s ruling that hijabs are not part of school uniforms, Masood stated, “What someone wears should not be viewed through a religious lens. Covering one’s head is part of our culture.”
In response to BJP MP Kangana Ranaut’s criticism of Kriti Sanon‘s Raksha Bandhan advertisement, Masood quipped, “Kangana may not have ever looked at her own attire, yet she continues to comment on others’ clothing.”
