Ranchi, June 24: Chota Nagpur Royals have claimed the title of the inaugural Jharkhand Premier League. In a thrilling final, they defeated Jamshedpur Steelers by seven wickets.
Chota Nagpur chased down a target of 181 runs set by Jamshedpur Steelers, achieving it in just 17.2 overs with the loss of three wickets. The team’s start was shaky, with Virat Singh dismissed for just one run by Aman Kumar. However, Kumar Kushagra and Nazim Siddiqui steadied the innings, adding 48 runs for the second wicket. Siddiqui scored 38 runs off 24 balls, hitting five fours and two sixes. Kushagra delivered a stellar performance, scoring a powerful 78 runs off just 39 balls, including three fours and eight sixes.
Himanshu Dwivedi also contributed significantly, scoring 51 runs off 33 balls, with four fours and three sixes. Chandan remained not out with seven runs off four balls. For Jamshedpur Steelers, Aman Kumar was the standout bowler, taking two wickets for 24 runs, while Anurag claimed one wicket.
Earlier, Jamshedpur Steelers had a steady start, thanks to Kumar Karan and captain Kumar Devbrat. Karan scored 28 runs off 13 balls, including one four and four sixes, while Devbrat made a solid 39 runs off 30 balls. Anurag Sengar added 11 runs, but Nitesh Reddy managed only six runs, and Ravi Sharma’s bat remained silent. However, Harsh Rana provided a late flourish, scoring a blistering 64 runs off just 26 balls, featuring five fours and five sixes. For Chota Nagpur Royals, Vikas Singh, Rahul, Chandan Mukhi, and Durgesh Kumar each took one wicket.
