Chinese Vice President Han Cheng Meets Russian President Putin in St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg, June 6: Chinese Vice President Han Cheng met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on June 5 in St. Petersburg. Both leaders emphasized the need to strengthen exchanges and cooperation across various sectors.

During the meeting, Han Cheng conveyed warm greetings and congratulations from Chinese President Xi Jinping to President Putin. He noted that the stability and strength of China-Russia relations are largely due to the leadership of Presidents Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin amidst an unstable international environment.

Han Cheng highlighted that recently, both leaders successfully met in Beijing, reaching new and significant agreements on bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields. China is eager to implement the important agreements achieved by the two heads of state, continuously strengthen political mutual trust, expand practical cooperation, enhance international coordination, and enrich the contemporary significance of China-Russia relations.

Additionally, Han Cheng stated that both China and Russia are crucial constructive forces in maintaining global strategic stability and improving the global governance system. High-level China-Russia relations are essential not only for the development and rejuvenation of both countries but also for promoting global peace, stability, and development. China is committed to enhancing coordination and cooperation with Russia to foster a more just and equitable global governance system.

During the meeting, President Putin requested Han Cheng to convey his heartfelt wishes to President Xi Jinping and welcomed him to participate in the 29th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Putin remarked that Russia-China relations are at an unprecedented high level. He recently completed a successful visit to China, engaging in in-depth discussions with President Xi Jinping on various topics, clarifying the future direction of cooperation.

This year, both countries will celebrate the 25th anniversary of signing the “Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation” and launch the “Year of Education between Russia and China.” Russia aims to strengthen political mutual trust and friendly relations with China, promote exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and contribute to global peace and development through the resilience of Russia-China relations.
