
Beijing, August 5: Chinese Premier Li Qiang recently signed an order from the State Council. The new regulations for the protection of integrated circuit layout designs will take effect on October 15.
The purpose of these regulations is to safeguard ownership rights of integrated circuit layout designs and to enhance innovation in integrated circuit technology. This initiative aims to promote the development of science and technology. The regulations consist of six chapters and 54 articles.
The regulations stipulate that the protection of integrated circuit layout designs should align with the strategic arrangement of intellectual property rights in the party and the country. The scope of protection will be expanded, emphasizing integrity and reliability.
Improvements have been made to the application and review processes. The scope of ownership rights has been clarified, and compensation amounts for violations have been increased. Additionally, rules related to the use of layout designs have been established.
